NULYP chapters sponsor mentoring and tutorial programs, career-planning workshops and cultural activities aimed at positively impacting the lives, and overall academic achievement, of the youth in their respective communities. Many chapters also provide academic scholarships to high school students to encourage them to pursue advanced education.
Local chapter programs and activities include:
Greenville, SC - Greenville sponsors a "Kidpreneurs/Kidvestors' program to teach students about money management, investing, and entrepreneurship. Students get 'hands-on' experience by investing in the stock market and learning how to start their own businesses.
Atlanta, GA - The Atlanta chapter sponsors an "Adopt-A-Student' program with the Atlanta Public Schools, providing academic tutors and life-skills' mentors to local students.
Providence, RI - The Providence ULYP sponsors an annual Winter Soiree & Silent Art Auction to raise money for the Fox Point and South Side Boys & Girls Clubs in Providence. The chapter also coordinates Clean-Up Days at the South Side branch to help dispose of debris around the facility and ensure a safe environment for local children. Providence also sponsors a mentoring program in coordination with the University of Rhode Island and Johnson & Wales University. Chapter members work hand-in-hand with University students to provide them with resources, educational workshops, and tools to help them excel as professionals. The chapter also sponsors an SAT & College-Readiness program for at-risk youth ages 12-20.
