  • The National Urban League has a long history of helping adults attain economic self-sufficiency through good jobs, homeownership, entrepreneurship and wealth accumulation. NULYP works to educate our members and the members of local Urban League communities about the benefits of economic empowerment and asset accumulation through a series of financial literacy workshops covering topics such as tax preparation, estate planning, homeownership, entrepreneurship, real estate investing, credit management, budgeting and saving, retirement planning, and advanced investment strategies.

ULYP chapters offer financial literacy and community economic empowerment programs designed to meet the needs of their members and local constituents.

    Some Local chapter programs include:

Greenville, SC - The Greenville ULYP sponsors an Entrepreneurs' Breakfast semi-monthly, where they introduce local entrepreneurs to the membership and highlight them to the community-at-large. Additionally, selected entrepreneurs receive a spotlight in the chapter's monthly newsletter. The chapter then hosts a "Business Support Social' at the highlighted business' location to encourage members and the larger community to support and patronize the local entrepreneurs.

Providence, RI - Providence sponsors homebuyer workshops to educate its members and other participants about the home buying process, including various housing laws and resources available to potential homebuyers.

To find out about programs in your area, contact your nearest ULYP chapter. To find out about other housing and economic development programs offered by the Urban League, visit National Urban Leagues Programs section of this site.
