  • A key mission of the National Urban League Policy Institute is to further the empowerment agenda of the National Urban League and its affiliates in the political process. It does this by producing informational pieces (action alerts, policy briefs and legislative bulletins) for National Urban League staff and affiliates on current issues, establishing relationships with lawmakers and leveraging the resources of the league in order to achieve legislative goals.

    Recent Action Alerts - Action Alerts inform National Urban League affiliates and staff on current legislative issues of importance to the league where their help is needed (such as contacting their representatives) in order to achieve our goals

    • Override President's Veto of SCHIP Expansion Legislation
      (October 15,2007).

    • DC Voting Rights Headed for Key Vote in the Senate
      (July 12,2007).

    Issue Policy Briefs - These are background papers on specific legislative issues that have or will come before Congress
