On Monday, August 29th, Hurricane
Katrina and the flood affecting New Orleans, as well as other
cities in the Gulf Region went down in history as one of the
most catastrophic events on American soil. Nearly 1,000,000
Americans were displaced, thousands lost everything - livelihood,
home, community.
The disaster was followed by an international outpouring
of help. But much of the immediate efforts are over. Vouchers
expire. Shelters close. Benefits run out. The recovery work
is nowhere near complete.
