Thousands still need jobs and
housing. The Urban League Katrina Fund will give direct assistance
to displaced low-income people. It will allow the Urban League's
network of over 100 affiliates to deliver short and long term
help in the communities they already serve. The Fund's focus
is job training, job placement, housing counseling and permanent
placement - all to ensure that the most disadvantaged populations
receive adequate assistance to enable them to rebuild their
lives. The Urban League Katrina Fund was started with initial
grants from Citigroup, Freddie Mac and the Nehemiah Corporation.
