Volunteer
You are an integral part of our organization.
You are a critical force in supporting the National Urban League’s fight to eliminate the existing gaps between African-Americans, whites and other communities of color.
You are our volunteers.
Without you, the National Urban League could not expand its reach into rural, urban and suburban communities and offer timely support to the staff and programs of our local Urban League affiliates. Volunteers are helping every day with fundraising, mentoring, and participating in community mobilization efforts.
There are numerous volunteer opportunities with the National Urban League:
NULYP is a national network of young professionals ages 21-40 that provides leadership development, economic empowerment and community volunteer opportunities for young professionals. NULYP members work to develop, implement and lead the next generation’s civil rights agenda within the National Urban League, the civil rights movement, and society-at-large.
NULYP also works to strengthen our members by encouraging them to achieve balance in their lives even as they work to strengthen their communities. To this end, NULYP strives to develop programs that encourage individual members' personal and professional development.

The National Council of Urban League Guilds is the national association of volunteer auxiliaries of the Urban League. Guild members (Guilders) range in age from 45 to 95, contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually and play a pivotal role in connecting the Urban League to communities across the nation.
Guilders deliver services that extend public understanding and support of the National Urban League and its programs.
Typical Guild activities include serving as staff for major Urban League events, such as the annual Equal Opportunity Awards Day Dinner and the National Urban League Conference, working as mentors and tutors, and assisting with projects as needed by local Urban League affiliates. Guilders also participate in fundraising, help to develop the leadership skills of ordinary individuals and engage them in local community issues.

The Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) is a voluntary partnership between the National Urban League, corporate America, government, non-profits, and other institutions to loan African-American executives to participating colleges as "Visiting Professors." This unique program provides an opportunity for professionals and corporations to give back to their communities and help credentialed African-American college students achieve their goals.
Visiting Professors lecture in credit-bearing courses that correspond to their industries and participate in other BEEP related activities such as networking sessions, workshops and mock job interviews. Created in 1969, it is longest-running program in Urban League history and has reached more than 750,000 students.
BEEP is active at 84 four-year historically black colleges and universities and on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and prepares students to become the sophisticated and well-prepared employees that corporate America and its global competitors are seeking.

Centennial Volunteers
In 2010, the National Urban League will celebrate its 100-year anniversary. We are planning a host of celebratory events and will need many volunteers to assist us in the planning and execution of these events. We hope you will be a part of this momentous event. Check our site as we roll out events.
Other opportunities for involvement abound at the local level, with the range of programming and services offered by local Urban League affiliates.
Please Remember…
Whether it is your time, your expertise or your money, your gift will change lives. Please join us and give generously.
