New York, N.Y. - September 28, 2005 - Today, National Urban League President and CEO, Marc H. Morial issued the following statement regarding the racist remarks made by former Reagan Secretary of Education, William Bennett on a radio call in show. "…You could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down." said Bennett
"William Bennett's comments smack of such blatant racism and ill regard for all African Americans that it is incomprehensible in this day and age. His comments are revealing and should put into question his value as a social commentator that is afforded media attention.
