National Urban League President Marc Morial to Testify Before Committee on Homeland Security
New York, N.Y. - September 12, 2005 - Marc H. Morial, President & CEO National Urban League and former Mayor of New Orleans has been invited to testify at a hearing titled, "Recovering from Hurricane Katrina: The Next Phrase," before the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in Room SD-342 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee launched an investigation into the preparation for, response to, and recovery from Hurricane Katrina. The focus of the September 14 hearing is on the future. What are the short, mid and long-term needs of survivors of mass disaster? What lessons can be learned from the aftermath of previous disasters? What steps can we take to advance the recovery process from this disaster?
