Chandra Anderson Joins National Urban League
as Senior Vice President of Development
New York, N.Y. - July 14, 2005 - Marc H. Morial, President & CEO National Urban League has appointed Chandra Y. Anderson as Senior Vice President, Development, it was announced today.
A veteran fundraiser, Ms. Anderson joins the League after working at the Apollo Theater Foundation, as their Senior Vice President for Development. There, she was responsible for the oversight of a $65 million capital campaign and, instituted the Apollo's first annual campaign since the organization became a not-for-profit in 1991.
"We are extremely pleased and excited to have Chandra as a member of the National Urban League's leadership team," said Morial. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Urban League movement. Chandra's capacity to raise funds will enable the League to continue to grow and expand the direct services provided to our communities."
Prior to working for the Apollo, Ms. Anderson was the Senior Vice President of Resource Development for the United Way of New York City. She was with the United Way for 10 years. Ms. Anderson raised nearly $350 million in their annual campaign and was responsible for fundraising administration and donor relations for the September 11th Fund, raising nearly $500 million. During her tenure, the organization achieved double-digit growth in their local campaign for the first time in history. Prior to joining the United Way, Ms. Anderson was Assistant Director of the Black United Fund of New York's Combined Federal Campaign.
Ms. Anderson is a graduate of the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, the Fund Raising School and the University of North Texas. She serves on the board of directors of CityKids Foundation and Ron K. Brown's Evidence and the Advisory Committee for the Gallery at the American Bible Society. Ms. Anderson is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professional, Women in Development and the Financial Women's Association of New York.
