NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE 2003 ANNUAL CONFERENCE SIGNS ON TOP NAMES
Pittsburgh to Host Assorted Leaders July 26 through 30
New York, NY, May 28, 2003—The National Urban League\'s 2003 annual conference will feature leaders from the civil rights, government and entertainment fields in various sessions during its five day run at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, July 26 through July 30, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Participants signed on to date include:
Marc H. Morial, National Urban League president and former Mayor of New Orleans, for his keynote address, Sunday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. This session is open to the public.
Dr. Dorothy I. Height, Founder, National Council of Negro Women, for a plenary session titled The Civil Rights Movement: Passing the Baton, on Monday, July 28 at 3:00 p.m.;
Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), of the U.S. House of Representatives, for a plenary session on Monday, July 28 at 9:00 a.m.;
Willie E. Gary, Esq., Entrepreneur and renowned attorney and Chairman and CEO of MBC Television Networks, for a luncheon on Monday, July 28 at 12:30 p.m.;
Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities, University of Pennsylvania and author, Why I Love Black Women, and Harriet Cole, syndicated columnist and author, How To Be: A Guide for Contemporary Living for African American Women, for a session titled Relationships in the 21st Century on Tuesday, July 29 at 3:00 p.m.;
George Curry, Executive Director of the National Newspapers Publishers Association (200+ African American newspapers) and the National Association of Black Journalists Journalist of the Year, for a plenary session titled The Future of Affirmative Action on Wednesday, July 30 at 9:00 a.m.
Judge Glenda Hatchett, one of the youngest and most distinguished African American women ever to serve as the presiding judge of a state court, from TV\\\'s Judge Hatchett, for a luncheon on Wednesday, July 30 at 12:00 p.m.;
The PNC Financial Services Group is the National Co-Chair of the League\\\'s 2003 Annual Conference. The Urban League of Pittsburgh is the host affiliate and Equitable Resources, Inc. is the Chair of the local host committee.
