    NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE LAUNCHES URBAN LEAGUE NIGHTS

    Evenings of Culture, Entertainment and Information Featuring "Live At" Instant Coffee


    New York, NY, August 7, 2003—The National Urban League (www.nul.org) and SumNerTime Entertainment, LLC, today announced that they are joining forces to create Urban League Nights, entertainment and informational events featuring the popular SumNerTime "Live At" Instant Coffee entertainment showcase.

    Produced by Bob Sumner of SumNerTime Entertainment and co-producer of HBO\'s Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam, "Live At" Instant Coffee, features live classic soul, R&B, jazz and fusion music with urban comedy and spoken word performances.

    Representatives from the National Urban League (www.nul.org) will open the program with a brief and informative session about the League, and shed light on the ways that people can become involved with the organization.

    Urban League Nights will visit the following Urban League affiliate cities throughout the summer:

    • August 19: Philadelphia, Pa.; Club Beyond, 215-451-5005
    • August 22: Long Island, N.Y.; Nakisaki International Restaurant, 631-232-2482
    • September 13: Wilmington, Del.; Kahunaville, 302-622-4300
    • September 20: Ft. Lauderdale, FL; The Seminole Coconut Creek Casino, 954-584-0777
    • September 27: New York, NY; Copacabana Night Club, 212-926-8000

    Tickets for Urban League Nights are $25 - $50 per person. To purchase tickets, call one of the local Urban League Nights affiliates listed above, or send an email to wsmith@nul.org.

    "Urban League nights will be a welcome venue for summertime fun that also provides a great way to get up to speed on how to become civically and socially involved in your community," Marc H. Morial, President of the National Urban League said.

    "The mix of entertainment and information - "infotainment" if you will - is sure to be a hit with all audiences, young and established alike."

    The National Urban League is a community based movement empowering African Americans to achieve social and economic equality. The League has more than 100 affiliates in 34 states and the District of Columbia.
